Honor Bands

Honor Bands are festivals in which students from many different schools, school districts, or states come together to share their talents and lover for making music. A common schedule for an honor band festival would begin with an audition usually containing scales, prepared piece, and sightreading on Friday. Depending on the time of auditions, the bands might rehearse that night. If not, Saturday is spent rehearing with a guest conductor sharing his/her talents. During these rehearsals, students have opportunities to make lifelong friends from other schools. Some festivals offer masterclasses for students by professionals on their instruments! Sunday morning is typically spent working on problematic areas and running through the music selected for the concert which is held in the late morning.
